When doing the laundry use less soap!
In this WSJ link, Seventh Generation's co-founder, Jeffrey Hollender, wonders why more people haven't stumbled upon laundry's big, dirty secret: "You don't even need soap to wash most loads," he says. The agitation of washing machines often does the job on its own.
Using too much soap in the laundry requires more rinse time thus wasting rinse water also obviously wasting soap. I am a strong believer in pre-spotting, cold water washing most clothes, judicious use of soap and Wrinkle Free spray after drying.
